Tchotiashvili’s 2017 Tavkveri is a real treat and pleasure for wine lovers. In times of confined physical presence this wine is a must to guide you on a notional gustatory journey to Georgia. Although the traditional Tavkveri grape – mainly grown in the Kakheti region – is pretty favoured in Georgia, it is rather rare and not widespread in Georgia (as my Georgian friends told me) … now can you image how rare it is in Europe ;-). Maybe this is due to late ripening of the grape by the end of October. Consequently, this tardy maturing – which means more fertile soil, more serenity, and above all more sun – is directly inserted in its taste. Combined with Tchotiashvili’s artistic viticultural knowledge, the product is of high quality through its dry, and likeably acetous taste and its colour full of relish. Try this wine, close your eyes and you smell the Kakhetian soil and feel the Georgian sun. There is only one way to “describe” this very good product: “more of it”!
